at what point did bella's love for jacob change?

when do you think bella stopped loving jacob in that way, and started loving him only as a friend? it definitely happened..so i'm wondering when everyone thinks it did.

i personally believe that in breaking dawn..she did not love him that way anymore..that she loved him very much as a best friend..but was no longer in love with him. that when she got married, and even during the scene at the wedding she was not in love with him.

i think it happened after the the last kiss in eclipse. she realized that she would always want edward so much more that loving jacob that way would just hurt everyone involved more and more.
edward's and her love for each other is to powerful to overcome and let's face it...she only really fell for jacob when she was on the rebound, but look how quickly her priorities changed when alice showed up in new moon...everything was immediately back to edward.
he is the most important thing to her, so her love for jacob would always be "eclipsed" by her love for edward.

at least that is how i see it.

that's a really good way of looking at it. i think the way edward described it makes sense too. that he left her broken for jacob to put her back together...i think it was him helping her while she was in pain that made her feel she loved him. there never could be anyone but edward for her though..they really are a complete and perfect pair.

When she and Jacob were talking after Jacob got hurt in Eclips.
I think she came into term with it, that she really had to stop hurting him, and stop hurting her and Edward too in the process.

Ofcourse she still loves him, but after that talk (for me), she let him go.

I think that the romantic elements were always more Jacob for Bella than her for him.  She was his first crush and he pushed hard to get her to return interest.  I think the Eclipse resolve was very likely when she realized that she would never be able to truly return the love interest for him.

If Edward hadn't left, I don't think Bella would have ever moved into any thoughts of Jacob the way she did in New Moon.  But Jacob's feelings and interest in her were constant from the start.

I honestly don't think that Bella was EVER in love with Jacob...I think she loved and cared for him SO MUCH as a friend, and maybe was attracted to him. That's where I think it ends though. Jacob was fooling himself by trying to tell Bella that she was in love with him too and just didn't know it, I think she just believed him for a little while and then composed herself. That whole part was still ridiculous though...

I think in Eclipse where they had the Kissing scene. She realized that she loved Jacob, but wanted to be with Edward.
But she 'loved' Jacob only as a best friend. And that was it. End of story.

She just didn't want to lose him to a angry Vampire.

i agree with you, and i also think that she never really was in love him, cause it was really renesmee that loved him, cause remember that part in bd, when she said she couldnt even feel any love for him other than best friend love?

I agree with those of you who think that Bella never really was in love with Jacob. It was Renesmee all along.
If it had been love, they would have come together in New Moon when Edward was gone and Bella was so miserable. She then saw him only as a friend.
When Edward came back though, there again was the possibility that they could become parents. And Bella felt the pull toward Jacob much stronger than she had before. She just felt this terrible need to keep Jacob in her life. Of course she would think that it was love. What other possibility was there? She couldn't even have imagined the real reason for that. It was strongest when Bella was pregnant. Bella knew just how much she was hurting Jacob and Edward with keeping Jacob at her side, and Jacob was suffering so much. Still, all of them knew that he had to be there. After Renesmees' birth, the pull was gone for both of them!

after reading the series again, i am convinced; she misinterpreted her feelings. she loved him...deeply..very strongly...but as a friend. it was just so powerful a caring, she thought she was IN love. silly bella. then again, she was only 18..makes sense. when i was that age..there was a guy i was best friends with, who put me back together when my heart was broken, and i thought i was in love with him once..then i realized i just cared for him very strongly as a friend. bella just didn't figure that out until later. i'm sure she did figure it out, when she got married.

Definitely! And I think she was just so grateful that Jacob had helped her through such a difficult time. And then in Eclipse she felt really guilty for not being there for him when he needed her! I think too that she only loved him as a friend! After her marriage perhaps even like a brother as she had once wished it would be
