PREFACE

all i can think about is my dream about him.
(or at least i think it was a dream)
his arms embracing me,
cold to the touch,
and his cool breathe blowing in my face.
his breathe was the sweetest smell,
it makes me blush thinking about it.

every day since that "dream" is just another vapor of time.
everything seems a haze.
i can't think about anything else.
its always on my mind.
every night i lay there wishing for sleep to come,
and for that dream of him to stay there forever.

at last,
sleep comes..

it was a cool night,
walking in this strange forest,
"i don't think i've ever seen this place before",
i whispered to myself.
i kept walking,
i had no idea where i was going,
but somehow,
i knew that he would find me,
or at least i hoped.
finally, after what seemed an eternity of walking,
i saw the most beautiful place i've ever seen.
it was a pool of crystal clear water,
with a small waterfall running into it,
the moon reflecting of the water with brilliant colors.
the sound of the waterfall was like angels singing.
and then,
i felt my legs give out from underneath me,
i couldn't stand anymore from exhaustion,
so i sat down on the cold ground
still admiring the beauty of this place.

it was then that i saw him,
standing across the from me on the other side of the pool.

"i'd thought you'd be here",
he murmered.

"..i've been looking for you for so long!
this place is beautiful."
i said.

"i'm glad you like it. i come here to escape from the world...
whats wrong?"

tears filled my eyes.
"i wish so much that this all could be real,
but its only a dream. i never want to wake up"

he laughed quietly.
"don't you see? even though this is a dream,
i'll still be with you no matter what. dreaming, or awake.
i'm waiting for you, and this is my way of communicating with you.
i can't do it any other way unless you find me."

i stared at his beautiful face.
"..but..h-how do i find you?"

"just follow your heart"
he whispered.

I awoke.
My head felt like someone decided it would be fun to smack it with a hammer during the night.
But I was thankful that it wasn’t too bright outside,
Raining, and everywhere you look there was fog.
I sat up in my bed,
thinking about the strange, but fascinating dream that haunted my sleep that night.

I was sure that I’d never even seen another being like “him”.
He was gorgeous,
(that’s even an understatement!)
His skin was glowing, such a beautiful pale complexion,
almost as if he’d never been in the sun.
His body was too perfect,
full of muscle, but not too much.
His chocolate brown hair flowing in the wind.
But the most glorious thing about him was his eyes,
even though the only light around was on the pool of water coming from the bright moon,
Light shone from his golden eyes as if he was looking in the sun.
It was like they were calling me to him.
Let alone his velvety voice.
The only thing stopping me from running to him was the fact that I could not physically move anymore.
Was it from exhaustion?
Or was it something else,
maybe some hidden instinct inside of me holding me back from his arms?

In an attempt to lean back,
I accidently smacked my head on the wall,
unfortunately breaking me from my daydreaming,
and adding more pain to my migraine.
I’ve always been a klutz,
more so here recently.
I can’t go a day without falling down a flight of stairs,
or tripping over my own two feet.
Being graceful wasn’t exactly my forte’ in life.

Finally, I got out of bed, and walked down-stairs.
Of course, mom and dad were at work,
and who knew where my little brother was.
I decided that since I was home alone,
I might as well start packing.

My grandma and dad are originally from Germany,
and I was finally going to see where my father was born.
My great aunt and uncle own a cabin in the forest.
It was just the escape I was looking for.
By the time I finished packing,
It was already past 6:00 p.m. and both of my parents and my brother were all home.
But I was already too tired to start any activity that included anything other than sleeping, so I said hello, and goodnight.
I went back to my room and laid down again.
This time daydreaming about all the beautiful pictures I could get in Germany.

I woke up the next morning surprisingly not tired.
I had one of those rare, dreamless nights.
Of course, the adrenaline helped too.
I was so excited to be flying on plane, for the second time in the 16 years of my life.
But I was slightly nervous too.
My imagination always got the better of me.
No matter what the situation,
my mind would always come up with some crazy theory that would sometimes ruin the fun all-together.
“Not this time,”
I thought to myself.
I said goodbye to my mom.
This was going to be hard,
Even though I was technically a Junior already in highschool,
I’d never been away from my mom for more than a week.
Our trip was scheduled for 3 weeks.

After a long and tiring flight.
16 hours to be exact.
We finally reached our destination.
It was more beautiful than I imagined!
Even on our way from the airport to the cabin,
I was in awe of this place.
A photographer’s dream.
Beautiful brick buildings,
Small businesses scattered everywhere you looked.
Every bit of this place looked like it was straight out of a fairy-tale.
When we reached the cabin,
My mouth dropped.
There were huge trees everywhere you looked,
Moss covered ground,
and gray stones forming a walkway to the front door of the cabin.
The cabin itself was amazing.
Inside was cozy, but spacious.
Decorated like a modern western.
And the smell of wood was pretty distinct.
“I guess that comes with a ‘wooden’ cabin,”
I thought to myself.

They took me up to my room and left me alone to get settled.
It was about 11:00 a.m. here in Germany,
(12 hour time difference)
I was a little bewildered at the fact that I still had a whole day ahead of me,
but that adrenaline was still pumping into my system,
and I decided to go exploring.

After a huge debate over my safety with my family,
They finally said I could go as long as I had my cell phone with me.
So I headed out the door, and walked into the forest.

Once I started walking,
I didn’t stop.
I got so far from the cabin,
that I couldn’t even see it anymore.
I had no idea where on earth I was.
“what on earth where you thinking?”
I asked myself.
I sighed,
trying not to let my mind overreact,
I sat down on a fallen tree covered with moss,
and took a deep breathe.
The fresh forest air seemed to relax me.
I took a good look around.
And then, the realization shocked me.
I’ve seen this place before.
This was the forest from my dreams..

“It can’t be.” I said out loud.
A range of emotions struck me like a brick.
I was confused, excited, and a surprisingly scared.
A part of me wanted to search for him,
Even though I knew the beautiful creature I dreamt of didn’t really exist at all.
But the sun was already starting to set.

Now that fact scared me.
Being lost in the forest was one thing,
But being lost in the forest, in the dark, was another.
Even though I was far past the age of being scared of monsters,
Or that something was under my bed,
My irrational fear of the dark had never left me.
So I got up right away, and started walking.

Again, it seemed like forever that I was walking,
And still no sign of the cabin.
Oh, my cell phone.
I reached into my pocket only to find some pieces of lint and a gum wrapper.
Trying not to panic,
I tried to think rationally.
“I must of left it at the fallen tree.”
I came to a conclusion.
But it was dark now.
The sun had set.
And I was alone.

Even though I tried desperately not to let myself freak,
Panic set in.
I had no idea where I was.
No flashlight.
No phone,
only the clothes on my back.
I started to hyperventilate.
I was running at this point,
I could barely see 3 feet in front of me,
But somehow to me,
running felt like the smart thing to do.
Though every thought was a blur,
I started think about all those survival shows that I watched.
I always thought I was a dork for watching them.
The man that starred in the show would always do extremely dangerous stuff, and then explain how to get out of those situations alive.
He also explained many ways to make camps, and to find food and water in the forest.
But I couldn’t remember any of his helpful tips.
I suddenly tripped over some random object.

It was too dark to see what tripped me.
I fell head first, and started sliding down what felt like a very steep cliff.
I felt sharp things jabbing every part of my body.
And then,
I heard a eerie crunch.
I had finally stopped rolling.
And hit the wet, mossy floor with a sharp Thud!.
Then the pain came.

I couldn’t scream,
I couldn’t think,
I just laid there.
Too exhausted,
too overwhelmed to think.
I closed my eyes.
I knew I was going to die.

I became conscious again.
Wind was blowing around me.
Pain surged from every inch of my body.
I screamed in pain.
But then I realized something was holding me,
Some cold arms wrapped around me,
so that I couldn’t move.
My eyes flew open.
But it was too dark to see the face of my kidnapper.
Or rescuer.
I wasn’t too sure at this point.
And fell unconscious again.

I awoke laying in what looked like a hospital room.
I saw my family standing just outside the door.
“Dangit.” I muttered under my breathe.
I hated when people worried about me.
My body was very sore all over,
And I noticed a sharp, throbbing pain coming from my leg.
And cuts were all over my body.
My dad walked in.

“Oh! Willow! I was so worried about you!”
Tears were in his eyes.
He looked very ill.
I felt very guilty at this point.
“I-I’m sorry dad.”
I managed to speak.
My throat was utterly dry.

“You’re-..We’re all so lucky that you’re alive.
“Lucky that this boy found you, and brought you here.”
He pointed towards the door.
My mouth dropped when I saw the boy standing there.
He looked exactly like the boy from my dream.
The boy that I daydreamed of almost every day.
I was sure of that.
Perfect from head-to-toe.
The most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.
I couldn’t help but just gawk out him.
A gorgeous smile came across his face.

“My name is Jesse.”
He said in a soft, velvet voice.
I still stared at him like an idiot.
Finally I managed to blurt out a sentence.
“My name is Willow.”
He smiled brilliantly again.
“Its nice to meet you Willow, well- not under these circumstances.”
Then an apologetic look flashed across his face.
“I would shake your hand, but I honestly don’t think that would feel too good for you at the moment.”
He was right.
Even breathing hurt.

The doctor entered the room.
He didn’t speak English,
So my dad translated.
“Your femur is fractured,
You have a concussion,
and a lot of bruising along your body.”
“I suggest you stay in bed for another day,
And you aren’t aloud to put any weight whatsoever on that leg.”
I heard what he was saying.
But I wasn’t paying any attention.
As he was talking I realized the fact of how well my beautiful rescuer, Jesse, spoke English.
That confused me a bit.

As the doctor walked out,
I had the sudden urge to talk to Jesse alone.
“Dad?”
He looked at me anxiously.
“What Willow? Is there something wrong?”
“No. Um, I was just wondering if I could talk to Jesse alone for a minute.”
He looked at me confused, and then shot a suspicious look at Jesse.
“Okay.” He said, and walked out.

Jesse stood there just looking unbearably beautiful.
He smiled.
“Yes, Willow?”
I tried desperately not to make myself look like an even bigger idiot than I already have.
“How did you find me?”
He looked at me with an unreadable expression.
“I was camping nearby, and I heard screaming,
So I came to investigate, and I found you.”
He smiled beautifully again.

I stared helplessly at him again.
“T-Thank you.”
I muttered.
“Anytime.”
He said with a mischievous look.
“It’s not every day I get to be a hero.”

Right as he said that, my dad walked in,
still looking suspicious.
My dad had always been very over-protective of me.
“I think it’s about time we head back to the cabin, Willow. The doctors are bringing a wheelchair right now.” My dad said.
His tone still sounded exhausted.
Then I looked up at Jesse.
A strange new light was in his eyes.
He looked at my dad.
“Sir, if you don’t mind, could I possibly stay with your family for a bit. My family are already on their way to Italy, and I would love to stay in Germany for a little while longer.”
My dad looked like he was almost in a trance,
I was almost sure that my dad would say no,
But his words shocked me.
“Sure Jesse, that’s just fine with me, and I’m sure the rest of the family wouldn’t mind, I mean, it’s the least we can do to repay you.”
My mouth flew open.
I couldn’t believe the words coming from my dad’s mouth.
Then Jesse looked at me with a smile.
“Thank you very much sir.” He said without taking his beautiful eyes off of me.

When we got to the cabin,
They showed Jesse around,
And he chose to stay in the room right next to mine.
I smirked to myself.
There was no way on earth that would ever happen.
But surely enough, only a thin wall separated his space between mine.

It was dark outside by the time we were all settled in,
And everyone was already sleeping.
I still felt extremely guilty for all of the trouble I caused.
And I just couldn’t stop thinking about Jesse.
I was sure that I never screamed in the forest.
How did he find me?
How did he get me back to the hospital so quickly,
All I could remember was waking up in what felt like a strong embrace.
Did he carry me?
I couldn’t sleep at all,
So I sat up in my bed.
I gasped at how much my leg hurt, and I tried desperately not to scream in pain.
I adjusted my pillows around my leg, so it would be in a comfortable position.
Suddenly, my door opened.
I jumped again,
Hurting my leg even more this time.

Jesse ran to my bedside and was swift to adjust my pillows once again.
I bit my lip in pain.
“I’m so sorry.” He muttered quietly.
He tried to adjust the pillows once more,
Propping one underneath my thigh.
While doing so,
One of his cool hands touched my bare skin.
I sighed,
For his cool hands brought some relief to my burning pain.
A distraction from the pain that I've needed.
He smirked and walked to the end of the bed and sat on the edge

Slightly peeved at the fact that he possibly thought this was funny,
I glared at him.
“Haven’t you ever heard of knocking?”
“Well, I figured you’d be asleep. Which any normal person would have been by now from all that medication they gave you. And I was coming in to check on you.”
He smiled charmingly.
I couldn’t help the butterflies.
And of course I blushed.
“I’m sorry for being rude. I get scared pretty easily, that’s all.”
I murmered.
“I completely understand. It was pretty rude of me not to knock.”
He was still smiling.

“So why are you still awake?” He asked.
“I don’t know. I Just couldn’t sleep. My mind won’t go to bed.”
“Well, tell me Willow. What's on your mind exactly?”
My heart started fluttering.
“How on earth did you get my dad to agree to let you stay here?”
“I know how to persuade people I guess.”
I looked at him astonished.
“Well you, my friend, have an extraordinary gift. Any normal guy would have, at the least, gotten a strong lecture, and most definitely would of been left at the hospital to find a ride elsewhere.”
He looked at me, confused.
“We’re.. friends?”
I blushed again.
“Only if you want to be.” I said quietly.
A huge smile spread across his face.
“I would love nothing more than to be your friend, Willow.”

“So do you mind if I ask you some more questions?”
I asked curiously.
“Go ahead.”
His eyes looked curious now.
“Why are you here in Germany?”
“Family trip.”
“Do you visit here often?” I asked.
“Only when I want to escape.” He replied.
His words made my heart jump.
I know those words.

He was smiling.
“Now, do you mind if I ask you a question?”
“Sure.” I said.
My heart was still beating fast.
“Why were you so far out into those woods?”
“I got lost.” I said.
“Well I know that.” He said sarcasticly.
“But why were you in the woods to begin with?”
“Well, I was taking a walk, when I realized I recognized that forest from a dream..”
I stopped immediately, afraid of sounding like a lunatic.
His eyes widened. He looked confused, and another expression I
couldn’t read flashed across his face.

“Why would you dream of that forest, when you’ve never been there?”
I was sure he thought I was crazy at this point.
“I don’t really want to talk about it. It doesn’t matter anyways.” I said urgently.
He looked slightly aggravated.
“Please tell me about your dream, Willow.” He intensely.
His eyes were smoldering now.
I was very confused at this point.
I could not understand why he cared so much about my dream.
After all, It was just a dream.

I studied his face. It looked as if he actually had a genuine interest in my dream.
“Well, I’ll tell you, but you’ll probably think I’m crazy.”
I looked down right away, blushing.
He smirked.
“Try me.”
I looked up to study his face once again, and began my story.
The whole time he kept the look of surprise, interest, and again, some other expression that I couldn’t read.
“..And so that’s my dream.”
He looked bewildered, and he shook his head slowly.
“I don’t understand. How is this happening?” He spoke as if he was talking to himself.
“W-what are you taking about?” I asked, rather loudly. So we both instinctively went silent to try and hear any sign of movement.
But all of the house was quiet.
“I’m not sure.” He looked as if he couldn’t speak.
“Jesse, what’s wrong?” I looked at him anxiously.
“Nothing.” He murmured.
“Let’s change the subject.”
The dark spots underneath his eyes seemed to grow darker as we spoke.

Then a glint of curiousness flashed in his eyes.
“So, let’s play a game.”
I looked at him confused.
“Sure, what game?”
“A guessing game.”
“What am I guessing?” I asked wearily.
“What I am.” A gorgeous smile flashed across his face.
Oh stink. I knew I was going to make myself look like a complete idiot.

I sighed.
“Um, okay. You can basically make people do stuff when you want them too, right?”
“I guess you could say that.” He smirked.
“You’re a Jedi, and you use your Jedi mind tricks on unsuspecting victims.” I knew that I sounded like an idiot.
He burst out laughing. And I glared at him defensively. He saw my expression and recovered himself immediately.
“No, Willow. I’m not a Jedi, I don’t use the Force, and I don’t need a Light Saber to get stuff done.” He was still smirking.
“Oh well, fine. Then I have no idea what you are Jesse.”
“Well aren’t you a party pooper.” He said playfully.
I blushed. And he stared at my blood red cheeks.
“You know Willow, you are honestly one of the most beautiful girls I have ever seen.” He was smiling. My mouth flew open in shock.
All I could do was just shake my head. His smiled even wider this time.

“I’m sorry.” He said. “There is just something about you that just puts me under a spell, Willow. I can’t control what I say. I’m barely able to control what I do.” My heart was beating so fast I felt like it might collapse. And my head felt like it was spinning a million miles per hour. I still couldn’t speak.
“Don’t you see Willow? Somehow, in some way, we’re connected. Like some eternal bond is bringing us together.”
“What?” I finally spat out.
He looked embarrassed. But he continued.
“I apologize for my rambling. Let me try to explain myself clearly this time.” He paused and sighed quickly.
“I haven’t exactly been truthful with you, Willow. I just thought I could I spend a little time with you so I could understand what’s happening, but I think its a lot more complicated than that.”
“What are you talking about?” I was so confused at this point. That medication was actually starting to set in and nothing really made sense at this point. He stared at me for a minute.
“You’re tired. Go to sleep Willow.” I felt a strange calm come over me, but I tried desperately to fight it.
“B-but, I want to know what you are talking about!” I murmured, my eyelids felt like they weighed a million pounds. He smiled brilliantly at me.
“Don’t worry Willow, we’ll talk again soon.” He winked at me and got up from his seat, and walked out of the room. Exhaustion took over and I finally fell asleep.

I awoke to what seemed like a movie playing in my head, but it was like a slideshow. I saw Jesse, walking alone in the forest. Then I saw someone following him in the shadows. Then I saw the beautiful pool of water from my dream, Jesse was laying on the bank next to the pool screaming in pain, I could see some of his blood dripping into the water. The next image I saw was Jesse alone, walking in the pitch dark, I couldn’t tell where he was, but even though darkness surrounded him, some sort of light shone from his pale skin. And then I saw Jesse standing next to the pool once more, staring into the crystal clear water, his eyes smouldering with such intensity, it was unbearable.

My eyes flew open. My skin crawled. I wanted to jump out of my bed and run into Jesse’s room, but my handicap unfortunately wouldn’t allow me to do that. My medicine was also pretty much worn off, so I was in horrible pain. I did my best to climb out of my bed without injuring my leg further and situated myself on my wheelchair. I wheeled myself to the counter in the restroom closest to my room, and reached for the hairbrush so I could attempt to make myself look a little decent. I turned the wheelchair and stared at myself in the full body mirror hanging on the wall.

Of course I looked dreadful. My hair was all tangled and it even had a few leaf pieces in it. And I saw little scratches all over my body.
I suddenly remembered how Jesse called me beautiful. I laughed. I never thought I was pretty. Though a lot of times I would get compliments for my looks. I never believed anyone when they told me I was pretty. I was always the most pale in my whole family. I got most of my looks from my dad’s side of the family. Small ears, full lips, small nose, and my long eyelashes. I got my light brown, almost golden eye color from my mom.

After doing what I could to make myself bearable looking, I wheeled myself into my room and slipped a gray hoodie over my head, sprayed some perfume on and wheeled to my door. Right as I got to the door, it opened. Jesse was standing on the other side with his long pale arm holding the door open. He smiled charmingly.
“How did you sleep, Willow?”
“Fine thanks.” I didn’t want to discuss my latest dream with him just yet. I rolled into the kitchen to see a note posted on the fridge.

“Good morning Willow! Hope you’re feeling okay. Me and the rest of the family have gone site seeing for the day. Jesse said he’d stay behind to help you out if you need anything. Love, Dad.”
I gaped at the letter.
“How do you do THAT?!” I stared at Jesse in shock.
“What?” He smirked.
“Do you like, use mind control on my whole family?!”
“Maybe I did.” He started to laugh. I gawked at him.
“Why don’t you and I go for a walk, I think you need some fresh air.”
“Um, In case you haven’t noticed, I kind of have a broken leg.” I retorted sarcasticly.
“Well I guess I’ll just have to carry you then.” A huge smile flashed across his face.
“Don’t worry, I won’t drop you.” He winked at me.
“Wait!” I demanded as he picked me up.
“Trust me this time Willow.” He whispered in a velvet voice into my ear.

Before I could say anything else, we were already out the door.
I stared at the glorious object in the gravel driveway in shock.
“Do you want me to carry you into town, or do you want me to drive us?” Jesse said with a smile. I was still awe-struck from the beautiful car in front of us.
“What kind of car is that?” I looked up at Jesse’s face. Perfect match.
“A Jaguar XF.” He said casually.
“Oh. Yeah we’re driving.”
He laughed.
“Anything you want.” He winked at me.
Then he opened the door with one hand, while he was still holding me with the other arm, and sat me down lightly in the seat. And walked around the front of the car so gracefully it took my breathe away.
He sat down in the drivers seat and looked at me.
“Are you okay, Willow?” He must of noticed me finally remembering to breathe when he got in the car.
“Yes. I’m just um.. Love your car.” I smiled sheepishly.
He smirked. Ugh, I’m such an idiot.
“This old thing?” He said with a smile. I stared at him, astonished.
“First off, my Oldsmobile is old! This thing is what, a year old? You’re crazy!”
He laughed out loud.
“Relax, Willow. I was being sarcastic.”
I blushed immediately.
“I knew that.” I said still blushing.
“You’re cute when you’re defensive.”
I could feel my cheeks burning up. And I felt a lump in my throat that prevented me from speaking at that point.
“Always blushing, aren’t you?” He smirked. Of course that made me blush even more, if that was even possible. Then he reached out one of his pale hands and touched my cheek softly with the back of his hand. His cold fingers felt like ice, but it didn’t bother me. His touch took my breathe away. We stared deep into each other’s eyes for what seemed like an eternity. We both instinctively leaned in to each other, our faces growing closer and closer, but then he stopped, leaning away from me as far as possible. I stared at him with confusion.

“What’s wrong? What did I do?” I asked.
“You really shouldn’t trust me as much as you do. You have no idea who I am. Or what I can do.”
“But you saved my life. Why shouldn’t I trust you?”
“Things could have been different.” He murmured.
“I don’t understand.” Starting to choke up a little. I think he could tell because that's when he came closer to me, slowly reaching for my hand It didn’t surprise me this time that his touch took my breathe away once again.
“Willow..” He whispered softly.
“Yes?” I murmured.
“Do you want to go somewhere? Or would you rather sit here in this stuffy car all day.” He said quietly with a smirk.
“As long as I’m with you, we can go anywhere you want.” I sighed, rather frustrated at the fact that this perfect moment was being ended. Jesse stared at me with what I thought was a confused and frustrated look.
“You really do love danger, don’t you?” He said with a smirk.
“I have no idea what you are talking about.” I said crossing my arms. He laughed.
“So getting lost in a forest you’ve never been in before, getting to know me, and actually trusting me, and now you want to spend quality time with me?” He shook his head.
“What a dare-devil you are.”
“Oh please.” I retorted.
“You don’t seem like the dangerous type to me.” I smiled.
“Wanna bet?” His expression changed. He actually looked deadly, and it gave me the chills. I gulped.
“Uhh. Maybe not just yet.” I blurted out. That beautiful smile flashed across his face.
“Good. Because I would have hated to see you lose that bet.” He winked playfully.

I was still staring at him in shock at his attempt to scare me. it still took me off guard at how good he is at giving me the chills. It gave me goose bumps. He didn’t actually scare me though, I convinced myself. He giggled at my obvious unsettled looks. Then he smoothly adjusted himself in the driver’s seat, turned on the car, and looked at me with a gorgeous smirk.
“You better buckle up. I wouldn’t want your pretty face to get damaged.” Right as he said that he tore out of the driveway and in a half a second he was driving extremely fast down the country road. I started laughing and slightly squealing at the same time.
“You’re not scared?” He stared at me confused.
“Not of you going fast. I love speed. But I am slightly scared at the fact that you’re not looking where you’re going!” I giggled. He immediately burst out laughing, and even though he was shaking with laughter, the car didn’t budge at all.
“Wow, you really are one of kind, Willow.” He shook his head.

I laughed again and reached for the radio. I pressed play and the first song I heard was “Forever by Chris Brown”.
“I love this song!” I smiled.
I started singing to the lyrics of the song. I always sang everywhere I went. I closed my eyes and tried to match the ever changing notes. And then I realized the fact that possibly the cutest boy on this entire planet was sitting next to me, my eyes flew open, and he was staring at me with a thoughtful face. I threw my face in my hands in embarrassment. He giggled.
“You’re good.” He smiled.
I peeked through my fingers, and then eventually lowered my hands.
I started to giggle, still embarrassed.
“Ugh. Thanks.” I muttered. Then I looked up I noticed the car was stopped.

“Where are we?” I asked, staring outside the dark tinted windows. I turned around and realized Jesse wasn’t in his seat anymore, then my door opened. He was standing there smiling with his hand open, reaching for mine. I instinctively took it and he immediately took me in his arms, holding me above the ground like a child. I looked up into his topaz eyes.
“I guess there’s no use in telling you to put me down.” I sighed.
“Why would I do that?” He smiled.
“I feel silly having you carry me around like a child.”
“Well then you shouldn’t have broken your leg.” He said playfully. I rolled my eyes. He opened the door to the building we were standing in front of, and my mouth flew open. It was one of the nicest restaurants I had ever seen. The lights were dim, but even then you could see all the elaborate decorations. I saw that there was even a live band there playing soft music. Every person there was dressed in beautifully in formal wear. I felt sick to my stomach when I realized my wardrobe choice this morning.
“Jesse!” I hissed.
“Please take me out! I’m look horrid, and I’m definitely not dressed for this!” I felt even sicker when I realized how well Jesse was dressed. He was wearing a black collared shirt that complimented his perfect body, He was wearing a black pair of slacks. He pulled the all-black look off too well.
“You’re such a silly girl, Willow.” He smiled.
“No one cares what you are wearing. They’ll probably be too busy staring in shock at your perfect face.” I couldn’t tell if I still felt sick or if those butterflies were taking effect, although, the butterflies never really left when I was with Jesse.
“A table for two please. Preferably somewhere private.”
The waitress just stood there staring at him in shock, obviously taken off guard by the fact that the most beautiful guy in existence was standing in front of her carrying a not so good looking girl in his arms.
“Sure thing.” The waitress finally managed to blurt out in German. She led us to a booth near the back of the restaurant. But instead of just setting me down in one, he sat down softly with me still locked in his arms, and then he finally set me down next to him with his long arm still around me making sure I was stable. The waitress mouth was hanging open and her eyes locked on Jesse.

The waitress started to speak but Jesse cut her off.
“What would you like to drink, Willow?” He never took his eyes off of me.
“Just water.” I said quietly. Then Jesse spoke something to her in German, and the waitress reluctantly walked off. Jesse smiled. We were so close I could feel his cool breathe on my face. I felt dizzy.
“So let me introduce myself properly.” Jesse said smoothly.
“My name is Jesse, I am 18 years old. I currently live in Alaska with some friends, I come to Germany a lot though, and so far..” He paused to smile brilliantly.
“This is my favorite trip.”

“It’s nice to meet you, Jesse.” I said playfully. He giggled.
“Well aren’t you going to introduce yourself too?” He said almost like he was a child asking for something from his mom. I laughed.
“My name is Willow, I’m 16, and I’m from America. Colorado, to be exact. This is my first time in Germany, and so far, this has to be my favorite trip too.” I smiled in an attempt to be charming. His face was at least 5 inches away from mine, I could feel his cool breathe blowing in my face, that made it so hard to concentrate. But then I realized that the waitress was standing next to the table with drinks in her hands. When Jesse turned slightly to see what I was staring at, the waitress set the drinks down and started talking to Jesse in German again.
“Willow, do you want anything to eat?” He said.
“No thank you. I’m not very hungry.” My stomach was so full with butterflies, I couldn’t be hungry. Then he told the waitress something, and she smiled and started saying something else. I could see that she was trying her hardest to find a reason to stay and talk to Jesse. Then I saw her expression change and she just randomly walked off. I stared after her in confusion. Jesse turned back to me and smiled.
“You didn’t say anything to her. Why did she leave like that?”
“I think she could tell that we wanted to be alone.” A smirk flashed across his face. I already knew he had used his Jedi mind powers on her.
“So do you ever use your mind control tricks on me?” I asked.
“I would never do that to you. Plus that only works on people who only have one thing on their mind at that moment. And you don’t seem to be that type of person.” He smiled.
“So what are you anyways? I know that any normal human would never be able to do that kind of stuff. And plus, you just don’t seem human. No normal human would be as perfect as you.” I really wasn’t afraid to admit that I thought that he was perfect, anyways he probably already knew by the way I always gawked at him.

“Let’s go talk somewhere different.” He said with a smile.
He set some Euros on the table and with his arm still around me, he pulled me to his chest and stood up with me in his arms. I could see everyone staring at us. It was slightly embarrassing, but I could deal with it. He opened a door at the back of the restaurant, I was surprised that it was already dark. I must of really slept in this morning. I could see an archway covered with ivy and Christmas lights in front of us, and a stone pathway leading under it. He walked with me in his arms through the beautiful garden. Lights draped around all of the trees. Then the cover of the trees disappeared and I saw a beautiful lake right in front of us, the outline was visible thanks to the bright moon overhead. He walked forward closer to the lake’s shore, and sat down in a patch of soft grass with me still locked in his arms. He sat me down gently next to him.
“This is beautiful.” I stared out at the beautiful scene that was in front of me. Then I looked up at Jesse’s perfect face. His eyes were closed and his face looked almost as if he was, heartbroken.
“Have you ever felt like you needed to tell someone something, something that person needed to know, but in your heart you knew that when you did, you might lose that person forever.” He said staring at the ground. And then he looked up at me.
“So you want to know what I truly am?” His eyes searched my face.
“Yes I do.” I said. My heart was pounding. I needed to know the truth. I didn’t understand why he thought he would lose me. Even though I barely knew him, I knew one thing; No matter what he was, No matter where he came from, he would never lose me.

“Okay, Willow. What do you know about me so far?” He said softly. Was he trying to make me guess again? This is so frustrating.
“I know that you’re extremely strong and fast, you have some way to control people’s minds, and everything about you is perfect. You’re unnaturally beautiful. And you’re so cold.” I looked up into his beautiful eyes. They were smoldering now. It made my heart melt.
“Does anything come to your mind? Think, Willow.” I sat there in silence, playing with a piece of grass. My mind had a million different thoughts running through it. Then my mind suddenly put together something. But it made me giggle just thinking about it.
“What’s so funny?” His voice was curious.
“Oh, I just thought of something. But it’s really stupid.”
“Say it please. I won’t laugh.”
“Okay then. Welll, I thought for a second that you could be a vampire. But that couldn’t be right because, one; you haven’t tried to kill me. Two; you didn’t turn to ash when we were outside in the light today. Three; you slept in the room next to mine last night, and not in a coffin.” A breathtaking smile stretched across his face.
“First off, I don’t eat humans, and I would never hurt you no matter what. Second, that’s a myth. We don’t turn into ashes when we’re out in the daylight. But we do like to keep out of the sun for our own reasons. You have to remember it was cloudy outside today. And thirdly, vampires don’t sleep in coffins, we just don’t sleep.”

I stared at him in shock with my mouth wide open. I didn’t know what to think. This couldn’t be true. Or.. oh my gosh. Am I really sitting next to a vampire?
“This isn’t funny. Quit joking around.” I said defensively.
“I’m being completely serious, Willow.” His face was expressionless. I stared out at the moonlit lake, I wasn’t numb, I wasn’t scared. My mind was completely at ease. I turned back to Jesse and he was staring at me, his face looked devastated. I reached out slowly across the grass for his hand. When our hands finally touched, a wave of comfort swept over me. I tried my very best to pull myself closer to him, but before I could move anymore Jesse pulled me close to him.
“Why aren’t you scared of me?” He said softly.
“I can’t ever be scared of you, Jesse. I don’t know what you’ve done with me, but the only thing I want now is to be with you, I want you.” I stared at his perfect face.
“You shouldn’t want me like this. I’m not good for you, Willow.” He whispered.
“How can you not be good for me?” I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes.
“I promised you that I would never hurt you, but getting involved with me is wrong, it’s dangerous. There are others of my kind that are not like me. They kill people. In fact there are very few, I guess you could call us ‘good’ vampires.”
“There are more like you?”
“Yes. I’m from the Denali coven, and I think there is only one other coven that doesn’t kill humans. We call ourselves ‘vegetarian’ vampires. We only feed on animals.” I still couldn’t believe what I was hearing, and I still couldn’t believe that I wasn’t scared at all.
“How did you become a vampire? How long have you been a vampire?” More and more questions kept popping up in my head.
“If you don’t mind. I’d love to take you to a place that’s very special to me.” His eyes were thoughtful.
“Of course I don’t mind, but what about my family. They are probably freaking out right now.”
“Don’t worry about that, Willow. I left them a note before we left. They’ll be fine.” I knew too well Jesse was right. His “persuasion” skills were amazing.
“If you say so.” I shrugged.
“Let’s go.” I smiled.

He picked me up and held me close to his chest once again and took me through the garden to the street where his beautiful black Jaguar was sitting. He set me in the passenger seat and before I could even get myself buckled, he was already situated in the driver’s seat.
“Where are we going?”
“Well, you should already know what it looks like.” He smiled. This confused me. I hadn’t seen anything in Germany yet other than the cabin, the forest, and the hospital room. And before I could think anymore the car was stopped. Jesse picked me up out of the seat. I looked around me. It was so hard to see anything. It was completely dark. It surprised me that I wasn’t having a panic attack at this point. Being with Jesse, in his arms, erased all of my fears. I looked ahead and I could see a dim light shining behind some trees. Jesse was walking toward the light. When the trees finally cleared, I was utterly shocked at the site in front of me.

“Am I dreaming?” I said in a daze.
“No. But I’ll pinch you so you can know for sure.” Then Jesse grabbed my cheek with one hand and lightly squeezed it. I giggled.
“See. You’re awake.” I could see him smiling from the light of the pool. It was so beautiful, my dream did not do it justice.
“How did you know where to go? I didn’t even know this place existed!”
“Actually, this place is the main reason why I come to Germany. I think you’ve heard this line before, but this is where I come to escape.”
“Escape from what?”
“From what I am. This is the place where I got changed. er-sorry, where I got bit. And somehow whenever I come back to this place, it reminds me of my human life, and in a way, I even become more human. So that’s why it’s so easy for me not to be tempted right now.” I looked at him confused.
“Tempted to do what?”
“Oh, you know. Vampire stuff.” He smirked.

I couldn’t help but giggle. I believed him. I trusted him. I knew he would never hurt me. Then I took my eyes off of him just to look around. The pool was even more beautiful in person. Then I looked up at Jesse, his eyes were smoldering again. Oh, there go the butterflies.
“So long have you been a vampire?”
“About 7 years. I’m pretty young. Actually whenever I stay at the Denali coven, I’m the youngest.” He smiled at stuck his chin up in the air proudly.
“You don’t live there?” I asked confused.
“Not exactly, I stay there every now and then. I just love to travel. Don’t get me wrong, I love Tanya and her family, and if it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t of discovered that I could actually be a classy vampire, but they’re all just too stuck up. They never let me have any fun. I like to hang out with humans, but they all say it’s too dangerous, and they’re always on my case. They just don’t understand that I’m different from all of them. I don’t even think about the smell of their blood.” He smiled.
“Oh, so you’re kind of like, a nomad or something like that?”
“Exactly.” He smiled.
“Don’t you get lonely at all?”
“Actually, I do. But you get used to it after a while.” He shrugged.
“Do you like being alone?” I asked.
“It’s okay. But I love change.” He smiled brilliantly. My breath was gone at that moment. Then he cleared his throat.
“Well I’m sure you already know, I like you, a lot. And I know we’ve only known each other for what, less than 48 hours? But I think we’ve been connected all along. Like we were destined to be together.”
I stared at him with my mouth wide open. I honestly felt like jumping up and down doing a happy dance. My heart was beating a million miles per hour, I couldn’t help the huge smile that flashed across my face. I stared at his perfect face and I guess he could probably tell I was happy because he had a gorgeous expression on his face.
“Well I like you too..” And before I could even finish what I was trying to say he kissed me. His lips were so soft and his cool breath was intoxicating. He held my hand in his. This perfect kiss lasted for about 5 seconds and then he sighed, and it was over.
“Good.” He whispered in velvety voice. Then he leaned back a little with my hand still in his.

I felt like I was on top of the world. Everything else was spinning and the only thing I could focus on was Jesse’s perfect face.
“I’m sorry. I’m new at this completely. But I know that was wrong.” He looked at me apologetically. Apparently he misread my expression.
“No, no!” I stopped him.
“That was amazing.” I said blushing.
“Really?” He tilted his head to the side. I shook my head, still a little dazed. He smiled again. Then the sound of a cell phone snapped me out of my daze. It was mine, and the words “dad’s cell” flashed across the screen.
“Oh stink.” I muttered. But I really didn’t want to be embarrassed in front of Jesse, so I didn’t answer. He could leave a message if it was important.
“Your dad?” Jesse asked.
“I think so..” Then my phoned beeped. New Voicemail. I dialed my voicemail.
“Willow, it’s dad. We got Jesse’s note, but it’s getting really late. You need to get home ‘now.’”
“What’s the verdict? Are we in trouble?” He said with a smirk.
“Yes, I think we’re in trouble. He wants me home now.”
“Great. I love trouble.” He smiled
“Not when my dad’s involved.” I shook my head. He squeezed my hand lightly.
“Don’t worry Willow. I’ll get you home in no time.” He swept me up in his arms and got me in the car in no time. We were in the driveway of the cabin even sooner. Right when we got in the door I saw my dad standing right in the middle of the living room. But before he could even open his mouth his expression changed immediately, like he was in some sort of happy trance. I looked up at Jesse and he was smiling.
“Hi sir. How was your day?” Jesse said charmingly.
“Good. How was your guys’ day?” My dad said almost in a monotone.
“It was amazing. But I’m sure Willow is really tired. And so am I. So I’m just going to go take her to her room real quick and go hit the sack.” My dad just stared at us with a confused expression but then turned around and walked away.
“Wow.” I whispered. He giggled
“It’s a fun gift to have.”
“I’ll say!” I said shaking my head. He took me to my room.
“Do you want your wheelchair?”
“Yes please. I’m sure your arms are about to fall off by now.”
“You honestly don’t know much about vampires do you?” He said as he set my down in my wheelchair.
“Besides the fact that the one that’s standing in front of me is the most gorgeous being I’ve ever seen, not a thing.” I smiled. He laughed again.
“Now please excuse me while I go see how horrible I look.”
“Willow, you look absolutely breathtaking.” He smiled. I stared at him incredulously.
“Vampires must not have very good eye site.” I muttered.
“Actually vampires have the best vision out there.” He smiled.
“Well you must be the exception. After all you told me yourself that you’re different.” I giggled. He shook his head disapprovingly.
“You’re being very difficult Willow.”
“Me? Difficult? This is nothing.” I smiled

“Willow?” Jesse was watching my face carefully.
“Yes?” I said.
“Why are you so down on yourself?” He asked curiously. I couldn’t stop staring at his beautiful face.
“I honestly feel hideous compared to you. You’re so..” I stopped to remember to breathe.
“Perfect. I mean everything about you is perfect, you’re looks, the way you walk, the way you talk. You know I forget to breathe when I’m around you.” Then Jesse’s face went soft.
“Willow, you give me way too much credit. I’m not perfect at all. And I have never met a person who came even close to being perfect. But that was until I met you.” He smiled gorgeously. Then before I could answer he leaned down and took my hand and put it in his, and then he brushed my hair gently away from my face with his other hand. Then I remembered what got this all started to begin with.

“I will be right back.” I said quickly. Then I went into the bathroom to do the nightly routines. I didn’t really try all that hard to fix myself up. Because at this point I figured my case was beyond hopeless. When I opened the bathroom door and looked into my room, Jesse was gone. I just sighed and wheeled myself to the side of my bed. I decided to attempt to get myself out of this wheelchair and to sit on the side of my bed and wait for him. I pulled myself to a standing position, standing on one leg so I wouldn’t put any weight on my injured leg, and attempted to twist my body so I could just sit right down on my bed. Of course that attempt failed horribly. As soon as I was halfway through my “carefully thought out maneuver”, I felt a very sharp pain shoot through my leg, and I started to topple over sideways. But before I could even blink I was in Jesse’s arms. I looked at his face in shock.
“Oh Willow! I’m sorry I took so long. I just thought you might need some more of your medicine. Are you hurt? Do you need me to get you anything at all?” His face was full of concern.
“I’m fine Jesse. Really. It was stupid of me to even attempt that.”
“Are you sure?” His eyes searched my face.
“Very.” I smiled. Jesse sighed in relief.
“Now would you like me to help you sit down on the bed now, Willow?” He smiled.
“Yes, please. Since I’m obviously incapable of doing anything myself.” Then Jesse set me down on my bed gently and sat next to me.
“You know you’re wrong.” Jesse said. His eyes were thoughtful.
“Wrong about what?” I said curiously.
“You said you’re incapable of doing anything yourself, but that’s not true. You’ve managed to single-handedly make me fall for you in two days, and to tell you the truth, I don’t think I’m ever going to stop falling for you.” I felt my heart melt. And I couldn’t help but smile.
“Would you mind terribly if I kissed you right now?” I said quietly. Then he scooted closer to me, and leaned in to where there was less than a centimeter between mine and his face.
“Not at all.” He said with a beautiful smile. He still held my hand in his, and he put his other hand behind my neck and slowly pulled my face to his. Then his lips brushed softly against mine, our lips moving in sync together. His mouth opened slightly and he breathed into mine. My head was spinning so fast. The world could of ended right there, and I wouldn’t of noticed one bit. Then he kissed me once more on my lips and leaned back. I opened my eyes and looked into his. They were smoldering, and a gorgeous smile appeared on his face. I couldn’t help but blush.

“Now look what you’ve done to me, Willow. You made me completely forget my speech and everything! And I never forget anything. Well, that was until you came along.” He said playfully.
“What speech?” I said confused Then he reached for something behind me on the bed and his hands returned with a beautiful red rose. He looked down at the rose for a few seconds examining it and then he looked up at me.
“I know it’s not much. But I’ve heard that the rose is a symbol of love, and beauty. And you know that I’m falling for you, and you already know that I think you are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I had, what I thought was a pretty good speech planned out, but that’s okay. I’ll take your kiss anytime over being ‘well prepared’.” He sighed with a smile.
“I never want to leave you Willow, and nothing would make me more happy than the thought of you being mine. Will you please be my girlfriend?” Then he turned his palms up and opened his hands to where the rose was sitting loosely between them. My heart fluttered and my stomach filled with butterflies.
“I’ll be yours forever.” I promised. Jesse’s face never seemed so beautiful. His eyes were like fire, and his smile brought chills down my spine. Then he set the rose in my hand and closed my fingers around it softly.
“I’ve never brought anyone to the pool that I just brought you to. I never felt like anyone could ever come close to making me as happy as the memories that come back to me whenever I visit that pool. But you’ve changed that. This rose is from our pool. The pool was the only thing in this world that I loved, and cherished, and now I just wanted to let you know, that I’d let it burn to the ground if it meant losing you.”
