TA TALKS BACK: HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH?

For today’s edition of TA Talks Back, TA member Brooke wonders, ‘How much is too much in the Twilight world?

How Much is Too Much? By: Brooke

A few days ago I was reading an article about the convention happening in Port Angeles this weekend, or more specifically their gimick that allows people to get married at the convention for $125. I was surprised at some of the negative comments about the concept of getting married at a convention being too over the top, but I was not surprised at the number of comments saying that the “Twilight” brand is growing too commercialized, and has become less about the series of books we love and more about “let’s see how much money we can make off the brand”. Now, I am definitely not one to point fingers because since the movie came out last November I have bought more than my share of Twilight merchandise, so much so that I’ve made a conscious choice to not do the same with New Moon.

Oh My Gosh! I'm so excited about this; first, the article is going to be fun to respond to, and SECOND,
"Love Edward" is 73 and in love with Twilight!!! YAY!  Yahoo! This kicks butt!  squee!

So...
I read something a long time ago that said "Life is very short, surround yourself with the things you love". My favorite thing is my family.  Love But until February or April of this year things in life were very low key... (boring). Wink  Since Twilight invaded every cell of my being something wonderful has happened; I'm in love again.  Love  I've met all of you and I can buy Twilight stuff if I want to!! haha

Ok, so yes, it's going commercial and it's all about people making money but that really doesn't bother me when I curl up in my bed at night with my Kindle and open New Moon and read myself to sleep. The bottom line always stays with me - I love the books, I love the story, I love the characters.  *sigh*  And if I wasn't the age I am, I would buy ALL THINGS TWILIGHT, wear it to work, to exercise, to bed to anywhere. But I'm kind of shy (I really am) and don't like drawing attention to myself soooo I hold back. But I'm a teen on the inside and dying to have my entire house decorated in everything Twilight.  ROTFL!

I saw the new New Moon tshirt at Hot Topic and the inclination was BUY IT IT'S NEW MOON! - but I didn't like the cut of the t-shirt - they could make one much more feminine, I mean C'mon. So I didn't buy it even though I really liked the colors and the mood of the shirt.

So I guess I'll end with, "Surround yourselves with the things you love" and don't look back.  Love

You know what? I'm 33 and i have never been as passionate for a book as I have been with the Twilight Saga. My daughter and my neice love it also. I have purchased many Twililght related merchandise for both of them. It wasn't until recently my daugter made me realize who cares what the norm is for an adult...if it makes you happy then go for it! If it brings you joy go for it! Twililght makes me happy. Life is too short to live in a box my friends. So I wore a Twilight shirt to work the other day, its my background on my computers there are other things that I've purchased for me this time...not just for my daughter or my neice.
