I did not listen to the soundtrack much before seeing the movie because I didn't want to spend the movie trying to listen for the tracks.  I picked up on where most of them were anyway.  Did anyone else notice that one of Rob's tracks was played during the fight scene when he is saving Bella?  I swear I have no recollection of hearing Decode, but I heard I Caught Myself.  That seems odd given how much airplay and hype Decode got.  Maybe I was just distracted by something else during that time.

Wow, it's been interesting seeing everyone's reviews today. I enjoyed the movie very much. I did go in knowing that it's hard to fit 600 pages into 2 hours of moving and with the previous knowledge that books to film usually aren't that good, so I guess I had my bar set low and by doing that I was pleasantly surprised. I thought the actors played their characters well and even though some of the scenes were changed or done differently, it was still very well done.

Everyone knew there would be differences from their book, there was bound to be and we all knew we would nit-pick them to death too. Smiley Sure there are scenes, lines, actions in the book that I would have loved to see in the film but I was just happy to see the characters that I have grown to love so much on the movie screen.

Just my thoughts....

Of course, I am sleep deprived and trying to get through the work day. Smiley

Wow...you guys can be cruel...

I really enjoyed the movie. For me that is enough. I dont need the world to love it, becuase I did. I thought Rob was perfect, I thought Kristen was perfect. I have a feeling that the character development for the Cullens will shine through in the next movies so I am not worried.

I feel like this movie and the book go hand in hand. You do need the book to fully understand the movie and I used the love of the books to help fill in the cracks instead of making it a negative compaarison of "thats not in the book" or "where is that seen that I loved from the book".

I loved it. Im sad that there are so many who didnt. But I was happy and that is enough for me.

I definitely liked it a lot, and I don't mean to sound super critical.  I knew it would be missing a lot.  I also knew that having read the book first, I would likely not get as much enjoyment out of the movie no matter how hard I tried not to.  (I certainly wasn't like the girl sitting next to me who kept commenting out loud when something wasn't exactly like the book. -- annoying)  That always happens to me.

I read the book for the Empire Strikes Back before seeing the movie.  I spent my entire first viewing of the movie thinking "that's different from the book".  After I saw it again, I began to appreciate it for itself, and now it is my favorite of all the Star Wars flicks.  I think the same thing will happen for me with Twilight.

I thought Rob and Kristen's performances were excellent.  They portrayed the characters very much like in the book.  I was pleasantly surprised at Billy and Peter's performances.  Rachelle was also made a big impression despite her limited time on screen which bodes well for Eclipse.

I disagree with the reviews I saw that said the movie was campy.  I didn't get that vibe.

I was one of the "twi-moms" at the 12:01am showing last night at the local mall.  I am so sad to report that I was really disappointed with the movie.   Cry

My primarily complaint is that Rob & Kristen never seemed happy enough or in love enough.  I had read that the producers and Catherine had tried to get the two of them to lighten up and smile, and it looks like they were right to be concerned.  Kristen's Bella just seemed morose most of the time - she never seemed swept away by Edward.  And it wasn't clear what was drawing them to each other so powerfully.  The brilliance of the books is the way the reader gets to be inside the head of someone who is passionately, irrationally in love.  The movie simply did not capture the essence of Bella & Edward's unstoppable attraction to each other.

Charlie, however, was great!

I agree that the baseball scene was probably the best in the whole movie.  The song they played during that scene was a good choice.

So after about 2 hours of sleep after being at the midnight showing, I have to say. . I absolutely LOVED it! There were some awkward parts, and laughing at inappropriate times, but all in all, I loved it.  I think Rob and Kristen have great on screen chemistry, and as far as an adaptation goes. . .it was really well done.

I don't know if it was just me, but some parts of the movie seemed rushed. (ie conversations)  While I understood it, those who haven't read the books are going to be completely in the dark.

So great job Summit! I'll be taking my boyfriend this weekend to see it!!!

You pretty well nailed how I felt about it. Except that I would add that the chemistry was amazing and some of the effects werent great.

I loved Victoria, Charlie, Edward & Bella (of course). I thought Rosalie was a little odd, but Emmett was perfect!

disappointed I think they could have spent more time developing the love between Bella and Edward and the important scenes like, the meadow, the cafeteria and the resturant. But I mean it was okay the fileography could have also been a little bit more well done. I think it had kinda of a fuzzy feeling. But I think they really could have worked a little longer on it and did some character developement, it was too choppy. I mean everyone will be different but I think the feeling of love just was not defined enough...so I just could not like it. But the movie was good if you haven't read the book, the nit pickiness attacks Sad. Time to go read and create my movie again. Cry

I loved the movie.!! I thought that with the budget and everything they had to work with, it was great. I loved the changes that they had in the movie and the only thing I'm disappointed in was the meadow scene/the sparkling. I LOVED the baseball scene! I thought that was awesome and it was done really well. I loved the prom scene too. It was so beautiful and how they were together, was.... I don't even know lol. I loved the tie in's at the end with NM and how the soundtrack was worked into the movie too.

I think the cast was great too! They really got into who they were. I loved Charlie, he was so perfect in that movie, it was unreal! Jasper was so expressive with his looks. I loved everyone lol!

sorry for the ramblings, but I just want to say I LOVE THAT MOVIE!

Agreed Erica. I was very disappointed with the Meadow scene, at first I couldnt even see the effect. Also, I did like the Baseball part, it was litterally lifted right off the pages for me.  Smiley

I am going to see it again tonight and I think I will enjoy it more the second time!

I have a lot of thoughts about the movie... and most of you have already said them all. Here's my thoughts right now: I just saw a 12:35pm showing today - I wanted to avoid the crowds at the midnight showing. I think there are a lot of great things about the movie but that there are also some things that people new to Twilight will have a difficult time with. I am going to see it again tomorrow with a friend and I think that now that I know what is/is not in the movie I will be able to better enjoy it for what it is. My hope is that this movie does well enough for a sequel to be made... and that the sequel is given a much larger budget  Smiley I think that will help and will be needed in the other movies.

I think - in response to the comment that people are being harsh or mean...it is not that at all. For me I have just taken off my 'Fan-girl' hat and looked at it objectively. Having had some time to absorb and ponder - I am planning a little solo-excursion tommorrow. There were many things that were very well done and beautiful. I just felt that there are some aspects that are glaringly laughable.

So well said, Antares! Its not mean at all, we are just looking at the film objectively and being honest about our impressions of the film. Trying to block our our book obsessions to make a fair assessment of the film is difficult!
