Basically, the vampires don't HAVE to shower like we do. They don't sweat and they don't get smelly like we do. BUT they DO get dirty...when they go hunting they get dirt and blood on them, and they shower to get rid of that. I don't know why it's not mentioned in the books, but honestly, if SM described EVERY detail about vampire life vs. human life that's all the books would be about, and I much prefer the story as it is, lol!
